151 million worth of Cocaine busted in Durban Harbour
05 December 2023 the Durban Harbour police said to have
seized cocaine that is worth 151 million in street value being trafficked in a
shipping container from Brazil.
Following up on an intelligence the police said to have been
monitoring the container’s movements and upon arrival the multidisciplinary
team inspected the cold container storage and said to have found 433 blocks of
cocaine disguised as meat boxes.
No arrest has been made at this stage and the case has been
handed over to Director for Priority crime investigation.
The police also confirm that this is a massive drug bust
that has taken place in a space of 2 months at the Durban Harbour.
The National South African Police Commissioner General
Fannie Masemola said to have met with the General Police Chief of Brazil,
Andrei Passos Rodrigues on the side-lines of Interpol annual general meeting
(AGM) in Vienna in the past week. General Masemola said to have discussed the
influx of drugs in our South African ports from Brazil and the conclusion was
to enhance the level of cooperation and the police confirm to have seen the success
in the cooperation of the parties involved.
